Google is using Apple as an opportunity to launch a new AI-powered Siri, which will push the upcoming Pixel 10 series. In the new ads, the company throws a subtle shade at Apple and doesn't offer the promise of AI features it was featured more than a year ago. AD never directly names Apple, but with a clear reference, “If you buy a new phone for a feature that will soon come, you can change the definition or change the phone immediately.” This playful jab comes after Apple has confirmed that its personalized Siri (with Apple Intelligence) will arrive in 2026 rather than the original promised 2025.
Of course, this delay caused frustration among Apple users and led to misleading marketing lawsuits. Meanwhile, Google plans to launch its next-generation pixel smartphone later this month.
The Pixel 10 series is scheduled to be announced on August 20th, with pre-orders opening on the same day. Shipping may begin on August 28th. Google plans to launch four models: the Pixel 10, the Pixel 10 Pro, the Pixel 10 Pro XL, and the Pixel 10 Pro fold. In addition to mobile phones, the company can also introduce the Pixel Watch 4 and the next-generation Pixel Buds 2a.
Google Pixel 10 Series: What to expect?
For normal pixel 10, changes are made in both the design and camera setup. The basic shapes of mobile phones remain familiar, but the colors are refreshing. Rumors say Google could potentially drop the peony, winter green and porcelain shades from the Pixel 9 series. Instead, the user gets a new color: Indigo, Frost, Limoncello, Obsidian are the only shades of carryover. The frost is soft blue, the indigo provides a deep, rich tone, and the limoncello is bold and almost neon green.
The biggest change can be seen on the back of the Pixel 10. For the first time, the base pixel model is said to include a triple camera setup with a 48-megapixel primary sensor, a 12-megapixel ultra-width and a 10.8-megapixel telephoto lens. This was previously limited to Pro models. The camera bar design remains much the same, but the glass covering the glass is now bigger.
For those looking for more power, the Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL are expected to be powered by Google's latest tensor G5 chip, built on TSMC's 3NM process. Both phones are rumored to have the same display size as last year. It's 6.3″ with the Pro and 6.8″ with the Pro XL. It is expected to provide a boost in durability as well. The Pixel 10 Pro XL is said to have a 5,200mAh battery.
The Pixel 10 Pro fold is the fourth mobile phone in the lineup, but of course it is expected to be the most expensive mobile phone. It retains the same design language as the previous Pixel 9 Pro fold, but includes some upgrades. The cover screen grows to just 6.4 inches, with the bezel shrinking, and it is rumored that a large battery of 5,015mAh is expected. Charging speeds also get small bumps – 23W wired and 15W wireless via QI2.
All Pixel 10 Series phones are expected to run on Android 16 and feature more built-in AI tools, updated Material 3 visuals, and perhaps new widgets. Overall, the phone isn't very different from the Pixel 9th generation, but the updates under the hood, including performance, battery and camera, show solid improvements.
