Story: Walmart deepens its push to AI, unveiling four new “super agents” on Thursday, improving the shopping experience and aiming to compete better with rival retailers.

Powered by agent AI, which requires minimal human intervention, Super Agents act as the primary entry point for all AI interactions with Walmart shoppers, store employees, suppliers, sellers and software developers.

The new agent replaces several existing AI tools. Retailers hope to attract more shoppers from Amazon, which has a range of AI-powered tools.

Sparky, one of Walmart's agents, is already available as a Gen-AI power tool in the app, and is currently helping customers with product suggestions such as athleticware and printer-friendly inks.

In the form of “super agent,” Walmart says it can plan a Sparky themed party and provide product recipes by looking at the contents of shoppers' refrigerators through computer vision.

Another superagent, Marty, is being developed for sellers, suppliers and advertisers to streamline the onboarding process, manage orders and create advertising campaigns.

Walmart refused to say whether super agents would replace human work.
