They call themselves merely human, but Laowa's 1980s/90s bands are immortal and have come to life again this year, performing live and even proven to embrace AI when releasing new songs.

Mere Man is releasing a new single, “Why I Can't Believe.” They will officially launch it at a gig on the night of the big Portroose venue on Friday, July 18th.

They are also the original lineup, with Paul Maron featuring main vocals, Paul Brophy vocals/guitar, Ollie Plunkett guitar/backing vocals, De Ligney bass/backing vocals, Dick Duff drum/backing vocals, and known sports coach Pat Klychley, who joined them for guest appearances.

The new track was produced by Ollie and engineered by Owen Geaney at Golden Egg Studios in Laois. The video of the space dance robot was edited by Avalanche Multi-Media Studios.

The band met again after appearing on a TV programme. Laochra Gael celebrated Pat Critchley, an award-winning sports coach and author, a great achievement for many of its members. They are currently recording new music at Golden Egg Studios.

Mere man had great success in Ireland in his past life. They play pubs, clubs and summer festivals nationwide, as well as two-month residency at Dublin's famous Baggot Inn.

Their biggest gig was the first Fail Festival in 1990, sharing the main stage with the stunning Sawdoctors and Van Morrison. They also supported Bob Geldolf and The Vetarians of Love at Poulapouca House in August 1990.

The band self-released their debut single and video for a trip in 1991, peaking at No. 11 on the Irish charts. They later took a break for years.
