Google unleashed its VEO 3 AI model at I/O 2025 in May and is now available in more than 150 countries, including India. The new AI model allows you to create videos using text prompts and also add audio sync to your visuals. But did you know that Google can generate 8-second videos from photos?
“You can create a short video in minutes with the Gemini app. You can just explain what you have in mind and see your ideas come into motion. You can create them for fun, share them with friends, visualize the concept,” notes Google's Gemini Page.
Yes, this new feature is part of VEO 3 availability and is supported when you purchase a Gemini AI Pro or Ultra plan in any eligible region.
AI Videos from Google Photos: How it works
To use the new features with Gemini AI, you will need a personal account and subscription to your Gemini AI Pro or Ultra Plan. Persons under the age of 18 cannot use this feature on their account. You can follow these steps to create an AI video from your photos using Gemini.
- Open the Google Gemini website on your PC
- Click on the video (icon) below the text box
- To create a video from a photo, click Add Image
- Select the file to upload and convert it to AI video

According to Google, the video generated by the Gemini app is 8 seconds long and can take a minute or two to generate. You must only upload photos that you are entitled to use.
As you can see from these details, Google doesn't make these features available for free, but don't be surprised if the company makes a U-turn and is compatible with all personal accounts in the coming months.
Google offers limited use of features, even if you have an AI Pro or AI Ultra plan. The company says the ability to generate videos from photos is not available in the European Economic Area, Switzerland or the UK.
Video for generating video with Google Veo 3 AI model audio was recently announced for the Indian market, bundled with the Gemini AI Pro plan for users. Gemini AI Pro users in India can access VEO 3 along with other features via the Gemini app on mobile or the web version of the desktop. The Indian Gemini AI Pro costs Rs 1,950 per month and competes with Openai's ChatGpt Plus.
