Leaded by Maride Fernandez, vice-chief of the Ideology Division of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party, the highest authority of the Cuban Journalists Union (UPEC) has agreed to presenting a national strategy for the use of AI in the media systems of the Caribbean.

Guild representatives recognized the opportunities AI would provide for automating journalistic processes among journalists, processing technical information, creating press releases, guardianship of texts, and identifying trends.

It also encouraged the proper use of tools such as streamlining and optimizing work, restoring historical memory, processing photos and video, converting audio into text, and creating spots and audiovisual capsules.

The conference called for the creation of laboratories for the use of AI and applications on the National Media Systems website to enhance the effectiveness of these digital platforms.

The conference also assessed the progress of the experiment to change the management model of the national news systems and the status of the infrastructure of sector institutions for journalistic exercises.

The conference also approved an activity plan for the 100th anniversary of the birth of Fidel Castro (1926-2026), the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, considered among the most important world figures of the 20th century.
