Salaries are reportedly soaring as companies seek employees with artificial intelligence skills.
Netflix, which has recently faced increased scrutiny over these jobs amid the ongoing actors and writers strike, has posted job openings with annual salaries of up to $900,000.
For a Data Scientist position working in the advertising industry in Los Angeles, the general market-wide salary range is between $390,000 and $900,000.
“We conduct analytics, develop analytical tools, and use machine learning to build predictive models and algorithms — all with the goal of giving our members more choice and more delight,” Netflix writes on its website.

Other machine learning job ads in Los Gatos, CA also have an overall market range of $100,000 to $700,000, or $449,000 to $842,000.
“This market range is based on total compensation (not just base salary), which is consistent with our compensation philosophy. Netflix has a unique culture and environment,” Netflix noted.
The streaming service isn't the only company willing to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars per year on top talent in the field, many of whom have related degrees.
For example, popular dating app Hinge is looking for a “passionate” VP of AI to become an “AI-first company.”
Match Group executives earn base salaries ranging from $332,000 to $398,000 a year, The Wall Street Journal reported Monday.

Additionally, the base salary for a Senior Manager of Applied Science and Generative AI at Amazon ranges from $175,000 per year in the lowest geographic market to $340,000 per year in the highest geographic market.
“Salary is based on many factors, including market location, and may vary depending on your job knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total rewards company,” the company explained. “Depending on the position offered, stock, a joining bonus, and other forms of compensation may be offered as part of your total compensation package. In addition, you will receive comprehensive medical, financial, and other benefits.”

A senior software engineering manager on Walmart's Sunnyvale, California-based conversational AI platform team can expect to earn an annual salary ranging from $168,000 to $252,000.
AI experts are in short supply as the industry booms, but some companies are pledging to train employees for AI projects, The Wall Street Journal noted.

Other companies are reportedly looking to acquire smaller AI companies with talented staff.
“AI talent is hard to come by. It's expensive. And it's also very picky,” ServiceNow CEO and Chairman Bill McDermott told the Post. “People want to go to places where they can get jobs that inspire them, not just because it's going to make them more financially well off, but because they have ultimate choice.”
