The artificial intelligence (AI) boom will present a highly lucrative opportunity for smart investors. Here we profile two AI leaders who are especially well-positioned to deliver wealth-building gains for shareholders over the coming years.
1. Palantir Technologies
While generative AI modellers like OpenAI are getting a lot of attention, the best AI investments are likely to be the analytics all-stars that can use AI to help companies get the most out of their data. The company won an initial contract of $153 million, plus up to $480 million, on May 30 to make its AI operating system available across the Pentagon. Shannon Clark, Palantir's head of defense growth, said the tool will help commanders make “better, faster decisions across all domains, at unprecedented scale.”

Tampa General Hospital credits Palantir with reducing the time it takes to place patients by 83%. “Reduced placement wait times and shorter hospital stays not only improve the patient experience, but also provide us the opportunity to treat more patients who need care,” Tampa General CEO John Couris said on June 5.
These real-world benefits are drawing customers to Palantir. The company's first-quarter revenue rose 21% year over year to $634 million, driven by a 69% increase in U.S. corporate clients. Plus, net income was an impressive $106 million, its sixth consecutive quarter of profitability.
But Palantir had just 262 corporate clients as of March 31. There's plenty of room for expansion, and Wall Street seems to agree: Analysts expect Palantir to grow earnings at more than 85% annually over the next five years.
2. Advanced Micro Devices
NVIDIA (NASDAQ: NVDA) Chipmakers have the upper hand among AI semiconductor designers, but chip buyers are actively backing challengers, who see competition as a way to increase supply and curb soaring chip prices.
