YouTube's 'Jump Ahead' feature now available for premium users

AI Video & Visuals

Recall that YouTube was secretly testing a feature that would help you find the good parts of a video faster. Now, that feature “Jump Ahead” is finally rolling out to a limited number of YouTube Premium subscribers in the US.

This new experimental feature was first tested in March and is now accessible to premium subscribers.

The “Jump Ahead” feature uses artificial intelligence and viewer behavioral data to identify the most engaging parts of your video, and double-tap to fast forward to reveal the “Jump Ahead” button. Click the button to quickly skip to the parts of the video that are of interest to most viewers.

Ask promises to turn passive video viewing into an active learning experience.

This feature is like having a virtual friend who knows which parts of your video are most valuable. Save time by skipping introductions, long explanations, or irrelevant content.

At this time, Jump Ahead is only available to a limited number of YouTube Premium subscribers in the United States. Also, it only works with English videos at this time. This feature is similar to the previously available AI-powered Answers experiment, which is also set to expire soon, but may be extended. Expect more new features to roll out around Google I/O 2024 in a week.
