YouTube rolls out a major update that adds highly viewable labels to AI-generated photorealistic content
YouTube revealed in a recent blog post that these labels will now be displayed prominently under the new layout.
Previously, these disclosures were hidden away where few viewers saw them.
Content that is clearly animated or only slightly modified will include minor disclosures that can be viewed within the expanded description section.

YouTube also introduced automatic AI detection tools to label AI-generated content
The platform requires users to manually disclose when they use AI-generated tools.
However, the platform’s AI detection tools will now be able to determine whether content is generated by AI based on “new internal signals.”
“Going forward, we will automatically apply labels when our systems detect significant use of photorealistic AI, even if creators do not explicitly state whether they used AI,” YouTube said in a statement.
YouTube began using internal systems to automatically detect and label photorealistic AI content in May 2026
Authors can still correct the label if they feel the automated system has made an error.
However, if the clip is generated using YouTube’s own AI tools like Veo or Dream Screen, creators cannot circumvent the system or remove tags.
The same non-delete restrictions apply to uploads containing C2PA metadata.
This digital footprint explicitly proves to the platform that the video was generated entirely by AI.
