AI News

Gasgoo Munich –On April 8, Gasgoo learned that XPENG CEO He Xiaopeng announced the official debut of the new technology flagship GX on social media. The announcement marks the arrival of what the company calls a technological masterpiece of the age of physical AI.

Elaborating on the name, he said, “G stands for greatness and X stands for exploration.” More than just a super-intelligent agent, this new AI-powered luxury 6-seater flagship SUV aims to reset the benchmark for the next era of technology flagships.

Positioned as a strategic product for the era of physical AI, GX integrates XPENG’s cutting-edge achievements across multiple frontiers. “We have packed all of our industry-leading technology into this one vehicle,” he emphasized. The package includes three core pillars: intelligent driving technology derived from robotaxis, safety redundancy systems from flying cars, and chips and architecture technologies that power embodied intelligence.

Citing previously leaked details, the GX will feature a full stack of proprietary intelligent driving technology sourced from XPENG’s Robotaxis program. It is equipped with four in-house Turing AI chips, delivering a total of 3,000 TOPS of computing power. This is the highest level among mass-produced cars in the world. The system supports XNGP 5.0 and is upgradable to Level 4 autonomous driving. Actual tests have already been carried out on public roads in Guangzhou, with a “hands-off and feet-off” feature that explicitly places the manufacturer responsible for accidents.

In terms of safety, the GX inherits a multidimensional redundant system from XPENG’s flying car division. Critical systems such as steering, braking, communication, and power supply feature a double backup design, significantly increasing the overall vehicle safety margin.

In terms of space design, the GX is positioned as a new high-class large 6-seater flagship SUV that utilizes AI. It has an overall length of 5,265 mm, an overall width of 1,999 mm, an overall height of 1,800 mm, a wheelbase of 3,115 mm, and a 2+2+2 layout. The company claims that there is “center stage in every seat” and that “all rows recline flat.” By optimizing the seat structure and spatial layout at the architectural level, adults can sit comfortably in the third row without compromising trunk capacity.

Chassis technology highlights include a steer-by-wire and rear-wheel steering system that significantly increases handling agility. These work together with the air suspension to balance comfort and sportiness.

He Xiaopeng said the GX aims to push the technological boundaries of safety, chassis, intelligent driving and space, and break the standards for future flagship SUVs. This model fills a gap in XPENG’s full-size 6-seat flagship lineup, going up against popular rivals like the Li Auto L9 and AITO M9. With the motto “No compromises in a family car,” it promises a new luxury mobility experience in the AI era.
