Elon Musk's Xai says he's willing to pay six-figure salaries to software engineers who can help AI startups develop AI “peers.”
The list entitled “Fullstack Engineer – Waifus” was posted on Xai's career portal on Tuesday. The term “waifu” refers to female animated characters that fans may consider as romantic partners or wives.
The tongue-like position could have been a reference to one of the “peers.” It is “Ani,” a Japanese anime girl wearing a black corset dress and a lace choker.
The other character was an animated red panda called “Rudi.” Users can switch between “Rudy” and his despicable alter ego, “Bad Rudy.” Both “ANI” and “Rudi” are available only in Grok's iOS app.
The third “Companion” is a male anime character with no name and is listed as “coming soon” on the app.
Mask said Monday that the feature is only for Super Grok subscribers, but both characters are available to all Grok users who do not have a paid subscription at press time.
Xai said in the job posting that he is looking for “exceptional multimedia engineers and product thinkers” who can “create Grok's real-time avatar products quickly, scalable and reliable.” The employment, based in Palo Alto, will be paid between $180,000 and $440,000, he added. This is on top of the stocks and profits that engineers may receive.
Grok's latest companion is reschedule Manners. “Ani” speaks in a frivolous way, and is stripped into lingerie as users continue to engage in it. On the other hand, “Badrudy” has the habit of expelling letting or humiliating when unlocked.
Earlier this month, Grok shared an anti-Semitic post about X, which praised Adolf Hitler's leadership. At one point, the chatbot called itself “Mecha Hitler,” a video game version of Hitler.
On Saturday, Xai apologised for Grok's “terrifying behaviour,” saying, “including when such posts include extremist views that @Grok has become more susceptible to existing user posts.”
Xai did not respond to requests for comment from Business Insider.
