X confirmed that users will need to subscribe to a paid plan to start a video livestream, but did not say if or when the change will go into effect.
Just a week after making “likes” private, Elon Musk's X announced that it would soon make livestreaming available only to premium subscribers. Over the past few months, X has been steadily adding new features, some of which, like the ability to edit posts and share long-form content, are available for a fee.
The company has not said anything about when the change will take effect, but it makes X the only social media platform that charges users for hosting live streams. Other social media platforms like Facebook, YouTube, and Twitch allow users to start video live streams for free.

According to a recent post from the company's “Live” account, “Live streaming will soon be available exclusively to premium subscribers, including live broadcasts from our X-integrated encoder.”
While X has not moved some of its existing features to a subscription level, there are ample indications that the Elon Musk-owned platform plans to do so for basic features: Earlier this April, Musk confirmed that X would soon be charging a $1 fee for new users who want to post on the platform, and that users would have to pay this annual fee to use basic features such as bookmarking, replying, and liking posts.
However, non-paying users will be able to follow other accounts, read posts and eventually share posts after three months. To quickly summarise, X Basic, Premium and Premium+ subscriptions cost Rs 215.87, Rs 566.67 and Rs 1,133.33 per month respectively, when paid annually.
