Will AI replace leaders in the workplace of the future?

When it comes to AI in the workplace, we are no doubt aware of the current hype about the fundamental changes we are about to see. The World Economic Forum recently released its “Future of Jobs” report, predicting that AI will result in 83 million “structural” job losses over five years.

This follows a Goldman Sachs analyst’s view of a “new wave of AI systems”. [and] The workflow shifts driven by these advances could expose the equivalent of 300 million full-time jobs to automation. ”

There is no doubt that AI will fundamentally change the way work is done and the skills in demand in the workplace in the next five years.

But what about leadership? Surely the leader can’t be replaced by a robot?

Well, I have an announcement. If you are a leader who believes your value lies in your ability to make strategic decisions, watch out, AI will replace you!

Whether it’s analyzing market trends, identifying growth opportunities or potential acquisitions, these highly valued and honed “strategic skills” will soon be outpaced by AI.

It won’t be long before AI can analyze massive data sets, provide insights, and make future recommendations with greater accuracy than humans.

So, do we need human leaders in the age of AI?

One thing is certain: AI will make faster, more accurate and equal decisions than human cognitive processing based on algorithms.

The key then is to enable the team to implement these decisions as quickly as possible. Probably even without bottlenecks like managers. Early research shows that people prefer to be controlled by AI. In an AI at Work survey conducted by Oracle, 64 sons said they would trust the advice of a robot more than that of their manager.

If so, wouldn’t it be easier to eliminate human leaders altogether? What is the unique added value of human leaders in the age of AI?

Of course, this is not an either-or zero-sum game. Appropriate use of AI will make us smarter and more efficient. We spend less time focusing on content, and by focusing on context, we can make an impact that only humans can.

“Soft” skills will be the only skills that humans will employ in the future –

This will be the focus of future leaders – and already is for some great leaders.

In other words, no machine exists that can reproduce the Leadership Soul. So if you want to make sure you’re still fit to lead your business in the future, maybe it’s time to focus on developing his EQ and not just your IQ.
