Openai has surprised the high-tech world, including stubborn people like Apple and Google. However, these two brands responded to ChatGpt's success in a completely different way. The former is still trying to find a foothold, but Google has recovered well. Gemini is probably a better chatbot for most people than ChatGpt in 2025.
If you are still using chatgpt, I won't blame you. Google's start in the AI race with Bard was not the best, but the Gemini era had a long way to go. Openai's 12-hour ChatGpt stop could serve as the perfect reason to give competitors like Gemini another shot.
You can access ChatGpt, Apple Intelligence, Prperxity, and more, but the Devices suite is the only AI client that requires Gemini. In fact, I haven't used ChatGpt in 2 years. These three features help explain why.
Models fine-tuned for specific purposes

The wide variety of models and tools available under Gemini Umbrella are a major reason to stick with the Google AI suite. There are several major types of Gemini models, including the Gemini Nano, Gemini Flash, and Gemini Pro. It's a bit more subtle than that when you consider derivatives like Gemini's personalization.
Gemini Nano handles on-device mobile AI tasks, Gemini Flash handles simple, everyday requests, and Gemini Pro meets advanced and professional needs. They are not just competitors in the latest ChatGPT models. They are winners. Google currently holds the top two spots on the Lmarena leaderboard, both of which are preview versions of the Gemini 2.5 Pro. The Gemini 2.5 Pro Preview Model is also the champion of Lmarena's WebDev leaderboards.
Openai's model is second in the Lmarena Leaderboard, but you cannot find it up to seventh in the WebDev rankings. The era of Openai models, an industry leader in all categories, is over as Gemini models beat ChatGPT models in many major benchmarks. If you need an efficient model to process your device, or you need a lightweight model to reduce token (cost) usage, a thinking model that shows the work, or a special model for a particular use case, all use cases have models.
If the vast set of stock offerings aren't enough, you can build GEM, a custom AI chatbot similar to Openai's custom GPT.
Integration with Android and Chromeos

For most people, knowing which AI models rank on Uber-specific benchmarks is insignificant for their daily needs. So Gemini's integration with the popular mobile operating system is its true differentiator. The Gemini app allows you to use the service on a variety of platforms, such as iOS and iPados. However, with an Android smartphone, tablet or Chromeos laptop, things really get better.
Gemini replaces Google Assistant, so AI helpers are always button presses or voice commands on most Android phones. Gemini Live also lets you talk to natural language AI models and share screen and camera feeds to add context. That's not to say that ChatGpt cannot do these same things. That means they are packaged in a much more convenient way with Gemini.

With easy access, Gemini will become a more useful companion to solve real problems. Use Gemini Live to help you understand why plants don't look right, or what ingredients can be substituted in recipes. And Gemini tends to do a better job of providing online sources for their answers, so you can quickly fact check in a way that you can't do while using ChatGpt.

Integration is a Gemini calling card, and it only gets better. Gemini comes to Android Auto and wears an OS watch right away, making it easier to access AI features.
Works in conjunction with Google Search and Google Workspace

Openai has the main advantages of Microsoft Partnership, so you might just happen to use Copilot and ChatGpt integrations with Microsoft 365 services. However, Google's free and accessible model for Google Workspace helped many people to abandon Microsoft 365 (previously the office). If that sounds like you, you can be happy to know that Gemini is deeply integrated with your workspace.
Gemini's presence in the Workspace app is very deep and it is impossible to cover them all at once. The Workspace Suite creates three main appearances: Power of Power as a standalone app and as a chatbot sidebar.
For example, workspace apps such as Google Vids (AI-powered presentation generator) and Notebooklm (AI-powered notebooks) are new apps with Gemini AI at the core. Legacy apps such as Google Docs and Google Slides have a Gemini sidebar that allows you to quickly help with tasks like summaries and generation. It also has individual AI-equipped features, such as using behind the scenes Google AI, such as Gmail's context smart replies.

It sounds like a lot, but that means Gemini will meet you where you are. With ChatGpt, you may be switching between Windows and apps while copying and pasting to complete the task. Even if you're on an Android phone using Gemini Live and on a Gmail site with a Gmail sidebar, Google's AI is in more places than ChatGpt.

The reason why novel AI devices such as the humanitarian AI PIN and Rabbit R1 have failed is because they don't have to switch devices to access AI. With Gemini, you don't only have to switch devices, you don't even have to change apps.
Above all, it's free and easy to use

To conclude it all, you can do it for free on Gemini than chamini. Remember the industry-leading Gemini model mentioned earlier? They are more or less free to use. Is Gemini live with video streaming and screen sharing? It's free again. Yes, there are Gemini Pro and Ultra subscriptions. Some people don't even need a Google account.
With that in mind, I am a happy Gemini user and there is no reason to use ChatGpt in 2025.
