New Delhi: Accepting India's proposal in this regard, the World Health Organization (WHO) has prepared its first roadmap for the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in traditional medicine. The document entitled “Mapping the Application of AI in Traditional Medicine” was released on Friday.This refers to several initiatives India has made to utilize AI and other digital tools to promote traditional medical systems.These include the creation of a traditional knowledge digital library (TKDL) that digitizes text-based formulations for Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha and Sowa Rigpa, as well as yoga practices, and a project called Ayurgenomics, which aims to blend Ayurvedic Principles and Modern Genomics.Ayush Secretary Rajesh Kotecha said India proposed to form an AI-in-aditional-medicine in the AI Global Initiative for AI (GI-AI4H) accepted by partner nations. “Now, we are actively working with international organizations to set global AI standards for traditional medicine,” he said. WHO Technical Briefs provide a future prospect roadmap for AI-enabled research, diagnosis, and personalized treatment routes for the traditional medicine department.Based on this roadmap, Kotecha said that the Ministry of Ayush has developed Indigenous AI chatbots to support practitioners and patients, thereby accelerating the modernization and global reach of traditional medicine. The Union Minister (IC) of Prataprao Jadhav Ministry of Ayush, said that recognition of India's AI-led initiative in the WHO technical brief is a testament to the dedication of the country's scientists to advance traditional medicine by integrating it with the latest technology. One of the outstanding features of Who Brief is Ayurgenomics. This is a scientific breakthrough that combines genomics with Ayurvedic principles. This initiative aims to use AI-based Ayurvedic constitution-type analysis to identify predictive disease markers and personalize health recommendations.
