The White House, July 23, announced an action plan that includes a series of over 90 policy recommendations to expand the use of artificial intelligence. The plan follows the administrative order of January 23, “Removing barriers to American leadership in artificial intelligence.” Policy recommendations line up three pillars that accelerate innovation, build American AI infrastructure, and lead international diplomacy and security. The Action Plan recommends the launch of sector-specific initiatives, including healthcare, to convene stakeholders to accelerate the development and adoption of national standards for AI systems. It also calls for testing AI systems pilots in real-world environments through healthcare and other sectors through regulatory sandboxes and AI center excellence.
Other policy recommendations include the removal of troublesome federal regulations that hinder the development and deployment of AI. A license to build data centers and semiconductor facilities. Expanding AI literacy and skills for education and workforce training. Enhance critical infrastructure cybersecurity related to AI.
