Workers have numerous concerns about artificial intelligence (AI), particularly the rise of generative AI, which has exploded into the public consciousness in the second half of 2022.
For those with AI expertise, the biggest concern is the impact on income. After all, in a year of layoffs, cost of living pressures, and salary increases that barely keep up with, or don't keep up with, inflation, it's important to make the most of your in-demand skills and earn the highest salary possible.
This is backed up by the fact that job ads mentioning AI or generative AI more than doubled worldwide between July 2021 and July 2023, according to new data.
Additionally, applications to job ads mentioning AI or generative AI have increased by 17% over the past two years, and speaking of money, another study found that AI-related jobs offer 77.53% higher salaries than other professions.
This is according to data from BizReport's “The Impact of AI on U.S. Worker Pay,” which also found that the rise of AI has widened the wage gap between technology jobs and other occupations by 36 percent.
When it comes to money, there are a few states you should focus your search on.
The state with the highest median AI wage is Connecticut at over $176,000 per year, while the state with the highest paying AI job is Arizona at $450,000 per year, and the state with the lowest paying job is Tennessee at just $84,000.
The report also states that the job market could see over 131,000 AI-related jobs in the next year. If you're looking for a new, high-paying job in this field right now, there are plenty available. Below, we've highlighted five high-paying jobs, and you can find even more jobs on our Interesting Engineering Job Board.
