If you have a specific artificial intelligence tool that you tend to try first whenever you need AI assist, you are not alone. According to a new study, 91% of people using AI have their favorite chatbots to try first, whether it's something else, such as ChatGpt, Gemini, or Alexa.
In a Menlo Ventures study of 5,000 adults, this “dry default tool” means that most people using AI have chosen the most common AI tools to try first in every job, even if they are not necessarily the best tool for their job.
In the report, CHATGPT is an AI assistant that surpasses the default tool, with 28% of respondents choosing it first. After that, Google's Gemini was 23%, Meta AI and Amazon's Alexa was 18%, and Apple's Siri was 16%. Other tools such as Claude, Grok, and Prperxity collectively account for 33%.
According to Menlo Ventures, some of the most common ways people use these AI tools include supporting email and other writing, researching topics of interest, and managing to-do lists.
