Over the weekend, Xai released an updated version of the Grok iOS app, featuring a new tool called Grok Imagine. This allows users to quickly create AI images and videos. On X, excited Grok users share their work enthusiastically, with Xai founder Elon Musk retweeting user posts.
Grok Imagine is now available to heavy premium+ subscribers of the Grok iOS app, as well as heavy users of the Android app.
Grok Imagine features generative AI with text-to-image capabilities and the ability to turn images into short video clips of sound. In this way, it resembles the new Midjourney AI video tool. Rival AI companies have AI tools such as Google's Veo 3 and ChatGpt-Maker Openai's SORA, which allows users to generate original videos based solely on text prompts.
Grok Imagine does not have sexual deepfake guardrails
Musk praises Glock's imagination with X, calling it “Meme Mother Lord.” He also teased the model's NSFW abilities and said he imagined Grok “is supposed to get better almost every day.”

Earlier this month, Xai released its Grok 4, the company's latest and most intelligent model. Previous tests lag behind other popular AI image generators, particularly when it comes to preventing deepfakes.
How to try Grok Imagine
Grok Imagine was originally launched only within the Grok iOS app, but Musk frequently retweets the Dogedesigner X account, which is now available on Android as of Monday for super-groke heavy users.

Mashable is still in the process of testing Grok's imagination for itself, but the first result is… no problem. Like other Grok tools, Grok Imagine appears to lack common protections in the AI industry. I contacted Xai for comments.

Disclosure: Mashable's parent company Ziff Davis filed a lawsuit against Openai in April, claiming it infringed Ziff Davis's copyright in training and operating AI systems.
