In my eyes, the Triumph Thruxton 400 is one of the hottest models of the year. We know styling is very subjective, but if you like the Thruxton look, it’s hard to beat that silhouette. Perhaps its only real rival is what happens when you can see it glowing in color in the sunlight against the backdrop of miles of winding roads in front of you.
A while ago, I was able to test both the Triumph Thruxton 400 and Tracker 400 back-to-back on the same roads, allowing me to observe both the similarities and differences in their riding experiences. You might think it’s a simple matter of ergonomics and naked bikes and full fairings, but it’s much more than that.
While the Thruxton 400 is a truly beautiful embodiment of the cafe racer category (thankfully made with short people like me in mind), it was the Tracker 400 that was an even bigger surprise for me when the day was over. Perhaps it wasn’t meant to be. There’s nothing in the world you’d rather origami-fold and climb into the cockpit of a cafe racer than a bike with wider handlebars that allows you to sit in a more upright position. But still it was.
Which one is for you? Well, it all depends on what you’re looking for. Not a bad choice here, unless you choose not to bring the red Thruxton colorway to the North American market in 2026.
If you would like to read a more detailed discussion of my experiences and impressions with both bikes, my lengthy written review is also published and available (and linked above). If you have any questions about the Thruxton 400 or Tracker 400, feel free to ask them in the comments section. I will do my best to answer your questions.
