Adobe continues to perform its AI magic with new video tools that make creating videos faster and easier. A full beta version of the browser-based Firefly video editor is available this week, allowing users to edit videos using natural language prompts, generate and edit clips, add audio accompaniment, and more. There are also new tools for precision editing and camera motion control. Adobe has also expanded the partnership with upscaling capabilities and more image models.

Like an experienced magician, or more precisely, a company that constantly seeks to improve its applications and tools to benefit content creators, Adobe has waved its wand and created new tools, models, and features to improve AI video creation.
This week, Adobe pulled this particular rabbit out of a big hat full of tools. It's a browser-based Firefly video editor (currently in full beta). This is a new creative assembly workspace that simplifies editing and speeds up your workflow when creating complete videos. Firefly AI Video Editor allows users to edit videos using natural language text-based editing. Upload clips, trim them, generate new clips, and rearrange them in the timeline to fit your existing footage. You can also add titles, narrations, music tracks, and audio. Users can export their finished videos in a variety of formats, including vertical social media posts and widescreen edits.

The company also introduced new video tools and a camera motion reference tool that allow users to easily perform precise edits and control camera motion using new edit prompt controls in video. Users can generate videos in Firefly and make precise adjustments using text editing on Runway's Aleph model. Firefly makes changes directly to existing clips. The Firefly Video Model also allows users to upload a starting frame image and a reference video showing the camera movement they want to recreate, giving them more control over camera movement within the scene.

The deal to integrate Topaz Astra with Adobe's Firefly Boards also adds new video upscaling capabilities, allowing you to upscale lower-resolution footage to 1080p or 4K.
The ink on the Aleph deal was barely dry when Adobe announced today a multi-year deal with the company that will integrate Runway's generative video technology with Adobe's creative tools. As a result, Adobe will become Runway's preferred API creative partner, allowing Adobe to offer customers early access to Runway's latest models, including the new Gen-4.5. Adobe said the two companies will collaborate on developing new AI technology that will be available exclusively in Adobe apps, starting with Firefly, with Gen-4.5 available on Firefly and Runway platforms starting today.

Adobe also said it is expanding the partnership to include Firefly's Text to Image model, Prompt to Edit, and Firefly Boards, as well as access to Generative Fill in Photoshop desktop and (in January) Black Forest Labs' Flux.2 photorealistic image model, which will also be available in Adobe Express. Adobe is also extending a promotion through January 15, 2026 that gives users on certain plans unlimited generations with Firefly video models and all image models, both Firefly models and partner models, including the new Google Nano Banana Pro, Flux.2, and more.
According to Adobe, the goal of Firefly is to provide users with a single location where they can select the appropriate model to generate assets for their projects, and use the tools and controls provided by Firefly to get the results they want.
