evidence

No reliable reports or official statements

Keyword searches for “Narendra Modi,” “Benyamin Netanyahu,” and “Afghanistan aid” yielded no reliable reports, government releases, or official statements to support the alleged announcements.

I then went through the clips one by one.

clip 1

Netanyahu’s viral clip was traced back to a longer livestream uploaded by ET on February 25, 2026. The ET watermark can be seen on the video. We reviewed the full speech in Congress and found no mention of aid to Afghanistan or the Taliban government.

After detailed analysis of the virus segments, we found the following:

  • The movement of Prime Minister Netanyahu’s lower lip appeared distorted and slightly out of place.
  • Facial expressions seemed forced and inconsistent with natural speech patterns.
  • The lip sync didn’t match the audio perfectly.

We further tested the audio using AI detection tools.

  • Hiya Deepfake Voice Detector flagged the audio as a possible deepfake.
  • Undetectable by AI, suggesting audio was generated by AI

clip 2

A second viral video shows Prime Minister Modi allegedly announcing special redevelopment assistance for Afghanistan. The clip dates back to a February 25, 2026 livestream uploaded by Hindustan Times, and the viral version shows a watermark. We reviewed the full text of Prime Minister Modi’s speech in Parliament. Nowhere in his speech did he mention support for Afghanistan’s Taliban government.

We then contacted TIA’s Deepfake Analysis Unit (DAU), which includes News Checker. DAU pointed out that:

  • There is a major sync issue between the lip movements and the audio track around 0:02-0:03 seconds.
  • At around 0:11 to 0:12 seconds, part of Prime Minister Modi’s beard under his chin appears to be peeling off and disappearing. There’s a weird blurring effect to the whiskers on his beard while he speaks.
  • His teeth are not clearly visible in all frames, and the parts that are visible appear to be severely discolored.

They also checked Hiya’s audio and concluded that “this audio appears to have been generated or modified by AI.”

Official live stream and transcript

Both speeches were officially livestreamed and remain available on verified platforms, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s official YouTube channel.

We have reviewed the available transcripts (see here and here) for the February 25, 2026 address. Notably, neither leader ever mentioned aid to Afghanistan or support for the Taliban.

This further confirms that the viral clip was manipulated.

verdict

There is no evidence that Narendra Modi or Benjamin Netanyahu expressed support or assistance to Afghanistan’s Taliban government during their parliamentary speeches. It turned out that the viral video was manipulated.
