The Tamil Nadu Forest Service shared a video of the elephant family crossing the railway tracks on Tuesday. He said this was possible due to an AI-powered early warning system that guarantees elephant death.
The clip is from Madukkarai in Coimbatore and you can see the elephant walking quietly along the truck.
In a post on X, the Forest Service stated: “TN proves that it is possible when technology meets its commitments. At Madukkarai, an AI-powered early warning system has zeroed elephant deaths on railroad tracks since November 2023.”
Additionally, it was noted that the system consists of 12 towers, 24 cameras and 25 forest staff to maintain the clock, leading to 6,592 safe intersections in the area.
Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin took X to share the important role of elephants in shaping the national heritage during World Elephant Day on Tuesday. He said Bhupendra Yadav, Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MOEFCC), will visit the warning system that drives AI, where train collisions have reached zero.
“In Coimbatore, Minister Bupendra Yadav of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MOEFCC) participated in the celebration, reading over 2,800 safe elephant crossings in February 2024 in the zero train collision in cm stalin.
He also said, “Our Dravidian Model Government has recently been blessed with an environment with eco-friendly home featuring eco-friendly homes for this gentle geant caring Mahout and Cavidi, and we continue to protect the future for nurturing. Coming.”
World Elephant Day is observed annually on August 12th to promote elephant conservation and protection while addressing the growth issues of human and elephant conflict. The day is aimed at ensuring that elephants can thrive without conflicting with the population.
