This patent was awarded to Akabot, an AI agent-based automation solution developed by FPT, and reflects the company’s efforts to expand its technology presence in international markets.
Establishment of technical standards
The patent was granted by the Taiwan Intellectual Property Office and covers computer systems, implementation methods, and non-transitory storage media used in Akabot’s machine learning-based solution for automatic document segmentation and classification.

Organizations often face challenges when processing large amounts of data in multiple formats from a variety of sources, such as emails, scanned documents, invoices, contracts, and payment records. Processing such unstructured data can be difficult and time-consuming when done manually.
According to FPT, Akabot’s technology enables AI agents to process 300-400 sets of documents per day, reducing the time required for segmentation and classification from approximately 15 minutes to 30-60 seconds.
The company said the patent provides legal protection for the technology’s underlying systems, implementation methods and storage components.
Expand your global presence
Prior to being patented in Taiwan, the machine learning system used by Akabot to segment and classify documents was patented by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) in 2023.
The technology is integrated into FPT’s broader ecosystem, which includes solutions such as Akabot Vision and UBot Invoice, which the company says are used by approximately 2,000 customers worldwide.
Securing patents in markets such as the United States and Taiwan can strengthen a technology company’s position in the international procurement process. In international procurement processes, intellectual property ownership is often a key factor in evaluating technology providers.
International patents also contribute to the evaluation of technology products by evaluating the unique systems and intellectual assets developed by companies.
Promoting “Make in Vietnam” technology
Bui Dinh Giap, chief operating officer of FPT Information System’s new products and services business unit, said the US and Taiwanese patents demonstrate the company’s efforts to develop unique technology for the global market.
