Tesla CEO has signalled several times about plans to bring Vine back since his acquisition of Twitter in 2022, including creating a poll published on X about the activation of the popular short video app in the 2010s.
Twitter first launched Vine in January 2013, allowing users to share video clips that last 6 seconds or less. The app is quickly popular with blogger videos and attracts millions of followers. However, at the end of 2016, Twitter announced the end of the app.
The 6-second video format is considered suitable for AI generated content, given that most currently available AI video creation tools typically generate content in short formats. On the other hand, longer video clips tend to require higher production costs.
The reboot of Vine in the form of AI presents a new chapter in Musk's strategy of bringing legendary digital platforms to life with exposure to modern technology. However, it is not clear how AI will integrate into the new Vine user experience.
Some analysts estimate that the new feature may include AI-based automatic video creation capabilities, as well as intelligent editing tools that make it easier to create short content. However, technical details and official launch times are awaited enthusiastically by loyal grape fans.
Musk's decision is also seen as an attempt to compete with today's popular short video platforms, such as Tiktok and Instagram Reels, offering unique value through the integration of artificial intelligence technologies.
