Taiwan continues to build its self-defense capabilities in the face of China’s threat. To maximize its potential, Taiwan aims to develop its smart technology industry and cooperate with other countries.

Artificial intelligence is a hot topic in many countries, especially when it comes to national defense. An American delegation of 25 defense contractors has arrived in Taiwan to meet with his AI company, CyCraft Technology. The two groups will exchange ideas on security and technology and see if there are opportunities for collaboration.
Defense think tank researcher Su Tzu-yun says the global market for information security could soon exceed NT$600 billion (US$19.6 billion). He adds that developing protection software could be very beneficial to Taiwan’s industry.
The defense industry is dealing with numerous threats to information security that have become a new kind of warfare. Unmanned weapons such as drones are particularly susceptible to enemy interference. The US delegation visited a Taiwanese drone manufacturer and held closed-door meetings with representatives.
Defense Minister Qiu Guozhong said he had not met with the US delegation or discussed the purchase of weapons. But he said Taiwan is willing to buy foreign technology that will contribute to the country’s future development and national defense.
US-Taiwan cooperation is still underway behind the scenes, and only time will tell how this cooperation can improve Taiwan’s self-defense capabilities.
