The attorney will be a member of the Data, Intellectual Property, Technology and Innovation (DITI) team within BNY Mellon’s legal department.

Responsibilities include:

  • Advises on the strategy, planning and implementation of BNY Mellon’s technology projects and adoption of emerging technologies (cloud solutions, AI/ML, DLT, etc.) and provides practical advice on the associated legal risks and issues.
  • Partner with your Risk, Compliance and Legal colleagues to support BNY Mellon’s digital products and services.
  • Work with business product attorneys to draft template agreements and support negotiations with clients.
  • Stay up-to-date on legal and regulatory developments in the financial services sector, including technology/emerging technologies, and advise senior stakeholders on the potential impact on BNY Mellon and its subsidiaries.
  • Provide legal support to respond to legal and regulatory reviews and inquiries.
  • Develop and implement training programs to educate various stakeholders on technology/emerging technology-related legal issues.
  • Collaborate with public affairs, regulators and local colleagues in reviewing and discussing legislative policies and proposals related to technology/emerging technologies.

Eligibility:

  • 4-7 years of experience.
  • Attorney with extensive practical knowledge of technology.
  • Knowledge of emerging technology developments and use cases in the financial services sector is desirable.
  • A strong interest in the subject area is important.
  • In-house counselor experience preferred.

  • Excellent contract drafting and negotiation skills.
  • You must be clear, organized, able to work collaboratively, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, challenging but highly rewarding environment.
