Vanguard, a global financial services company based in Malvern, Pennsylvania, has 20,000 employees working across multiple business units. Two years ago, data became so integral to its digital business model that CDAO was formed to create a more fluid process for organizing, accessing, and sharing data across the organization.
The CDAO team is made up of data scientists, analysts, engineers, and AI/ML specialists, working with employees and stakeholders to understand the needs and goals of each business unit and its clients. We then gather the right data mix, build tailored data models, analyze results to provide key insights, and build internal platforms and processes to increase workplace efficiency and accuracy.

Originally part of the Financial Advisory Services team, Mehta continued to focus on financial advisor clients under the CDAO umbrella. She uses data to solve problems, develop strategies, and ultimately help her clients, individual investors, achieve financial independence.

Growing at the speed of light, CDAO offers a wealth of opportunities for engineers passionate about data, machine learning, artificial intelligence and cloud computing, Mehta said. She feels that even with a team of over 500, her individual contributions are all recognized by leadership and her work makes an impact.
“I’m a goal-oriented person,” she said. “Knowing that I am making an impact makes my work even better.”

Today, the team is building a fully native cloud platform, all using the latest cloud and software technologies, and also modernizing legacy systems. But every day brings new challenges and opportunities to the table.
