The University of Oxford and UBS are proud to announce the establishment of the Oxford-UBS Center for Applied Artificial Intelligence (AI). Through cutting-edge research, our center aims to deepen our understanding of the power of AI and promote its practical application.
The center aims to be a ground-breaking multidisciplinary partnership involving UBS, the University of Oxford's Said Business School and the university's Department of Mathematics, Physics and Life Sciences (MPLS). As well as independent research projects on AI, the Center will also pursue joint initiatives in which researchers work closely with UBS practitioners to apply their discoveries to real-world applications.
The center will be led by the newly endowed UBS Professor in Applied AI at Oxford Said University and supported by a dedicated team of 20 researchers. Their research will focus on three main areas:
- AI and society: This includes aspects of AI governance, the future of work, and sustainability.
- AI for business and economics: This includes applying AI to drive innovation and transformation across business and economic ecosystems.
- AI futures: Includes exploration of new AI paradigms, model development and its applications.
We are thrilled to announce this exciting and important partnership that brings together the world's leading universities and the world's leading financial services institutions. This dynamic interdisciplinary partnership will lead to pioneering new AI research solutions and practical applications in a time of unprecedented technological change.
