The compact turret was developed by participants in the Brave1 defense innovation cluster as part of Ukraine’s growing “small air defense” initiative aimed at protecting front-line forces and settlements from the growing threat of unmanned aircraft.

The system uses artificial intelligence to autonomously detect, track, and calculate the flight path of a hostile UAV. The operator can confirm the connection with a single button press.

One of the most important features of this turret is its ability to counter fiber-optic guided drones, which are largely immune to traditional electronic warfare systems. In such cases, dynamic interception remains one of the few effective countermeasures against high-speed and highly maneuverable air targets.

According to Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, the system is already in operation in more than 10 military units operating in key front-line sectors.

For the first time, Ukrainian authorities also released footage showing the turret successfully engaging an enemy drone in a real combat situation.

Fedorov said the system’s first combat deployment was carried out by Ukrainian fighters from the K-2 brigade. The collaboration between the developers, Brave1, and frontline personnel reportedly allowed the system to move from prototype stage to battlefield deployment in a very short period of time.

“Our main goal now is to scale up off-the-shelf solutions across the front lines as quickly as possible. Anti-UAV technology must evolve faster than enemy systems,” Fedorov said.

Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense continues to prioritize the development of low-level air defense capabilities, as the Russian military increasingly relies on FPV drones and other low-cost unmanned vehicles in front-line and frontline areas.
