Just a month after its initial release in China, Kaishou Technology's Kling video-generating AI is already available worldwide, currently with a limited free tier and a $5/month subscription that unlocks more features.
The new three-tier subscription system gives users “daily free credits” just for logging in. The platform uses credits as currency, and users can trade them to generate and manipulate video clips. In addition to the daily credits, the system also removes watermarks from finished videos, extends video length to three minutes (from five seconds for free user videos), and enables advanced video controls and access to Professional Mode, a more advanced iteration of the company's current AI model that promises “better instruction following, higher image quality, and stronger dynamic consistency,” according to the announcement. It's an “overall significant improvement in text-to-video and image-to-video generation compared to standard mode.”
Free Levels Continue: You can still try our video generation software for free by visiting klingai.com, clicking the “Sign in” radio button in the top right corner of the home screen, and then clicking the “Sign up for free” link in the pop-up login menu. The site gives you 66 credits (enough to generate about 6 videos) every day you log in, regardless of your subscription level.
The company is offering a 50% discount on all membership levels for the next week (until Monday, August 5th at 11:59am): The Standard package, which offers 660 credits per month, has been reduced from $120 to $60 per year, the Pro subscription with 3000 credits per month has been reduced to $222 per year (usually $444), and the Premier subscription, with 8000 credits per month, is being offered at a temporarily reduced price of $552 per year (usually $1,104).
Kling enters an increasingly competitive market for AI video generation: Meta's Sora is already considered a tech leader in the field despite not even being released yet, while rivals such as Runway, Hapier, Based Labs, Pika and Invideo continue to release improved models and new features.
