With the rapid advancement of AI, AI home appliances are becoming more and more integrated into daily life, reducing the burden of housework and increasing convenience. Since the official announcement of its bespoke AI lineup last year, Samsung Electronics will triple the number of key AI home appliance models in 2025, providing consumers with more choices.1
The company’s ultimate goal is to completely eliminate housework through AI home appliances that can make and operate autonomously.
At the forefront of this vision is Bespoke AI, one of the four core values of Samsung’s Digital Appliance (DA) business. Bespoke AI refers to a new category of AI appliances that understand users and work with them individually to provide personalized experiences. With unique solutions like Screens, Bixby, and Vision, Samsung is redefining what AI appliances can deliver.
Samsung Newsroom spoke with Bespoke AI to explore its direction, goals, and consumer benefits. Jung Seung MoonExecutive Vice President and Head of Research and Development, Digital Appliance (DA) Business, Samsung Electronics, took the stage for the first interview in a four-part series.

Reduce chores with custom-made AI using Screen, Bixby, and Vision
Q1. What is the ultimate value that Bespoke AI aims for?
Customized AI refers to AI appliances that deliver a truly personalized appliance experience based on a deep understanding of each user’s lifestyle and needs. Designed for users who want more ease, comfort and convenience in their daily lives. Samsung’s product development is focused on evolving AI and connectivity between devices so that home appliances can understand and act on your behalf, ultimately achieving zero housework.
Q2. Why do you think Bespoke AI can significantly reduce housework?
Bespoke AI is built on three foundational technologies: Screens, Bixby, and Vision, which together enable entirely new experiences in the home.
- Products such as the Bespoke AI Family Hub, hybrid refrigerators, washers, dryers, and cooking appliances offer intuitive on-screen functionality for convenience and accessibility. It also acts as a control hub for your entire home through SmartThings connectivity.
- Bixby, Samsung’s voice assistant, is applied across the Bespoke AI lineup. Their growing presence allows users to control home appliances with just their voice, providing a hands-free experience that lowers the barrier to use.
- Vision technology is built into products such as the Family Hub refrigerator, 9-inch screen refrigerator, and Bespoke AI Steam robot vacuum cleaner and oven. These home appliances demonstrate a clear evolution toward reducing the burden of home management, such as by recognizing objects and assisting with housework.
Samsung is also expanding Wi-Fi connectivity across its product lineup to enable more advanced connectivity features. For example, 91% of bespoke four-door refrigerators (FDRs) sold worldwide are Wi-Fi enabled.2 Samsung has already more than tripled its AI appliance lineup from last year and is expected to maintain strong growth through 2026.
AI that responds to the voices of each family member makes cooking and laundry easier
Q3. What are Bixby’s unique advantages in bespoke AI appliances compared to other products?
Bixby is powered by an appliance-tuned Large Language Model (LLM) that allows users to naturally interact with their devices through conversation-like commands.
New this year, Voice ID takes personalization one step further. In a joint household, recognize who is speaking and adjust your response accordingly.3 When a user asks, “What’s your schedule?” Bixby pulls up their own calendar, not someone else’s. It works just as naturally with photos, playlists, etc.
Bixby is also tightly integrated with hardware features across Samsung’s appliance lineup, making control more seamless. Industry-first wakeless voice control innovation allows users to control home appliances like refrigerators and washing machines without having to say “Hi Bixby” before giving a command.4 When combined with features like auto-open doors, users can simply say, “Open the left (right) door of the refrigerator” for a truly seamless experience.
Q4. Could you explain in more detail what benefits Bespoke AI brings to daily life?
Tailor-made AI is designed to recognize and handle everyday tasks that people often find boring, difficult, or time-consuming. Advanced AI capabilities are revolutionizing the way you manage your household chores by automatically handling tasks that once required manual labor and user supervision.
For example, the Bespoke AI Family Hub refrigerator is equipped with AI Vision Inside, which automatically identifies food when you put it inside. It helps you manage your food inventory and can even recommend recipes based on available items. While cooking, it can also send optimal settings to connected kitchen appliances, minimizing inconvenience and streamlining meal preparation. The system has also evolved to incorporate wellness insights, helping users make healthier lifestyle choices through a connected cooking experience.
The Bespoke AI Laundry Combo is an all-in-one washer and dryer that uses features like AI Opti Wash & Dry to detect fabric type, soil level, and weight after the clothes are loaded.5 It then automatically dispenses the right amount of detergent, selects the best wash and dry cycles, and handles everything from start to finish.
AI anti-vibration technology automatically controls noise and vibration,6 Create a quieter laundry experience. These are the types of tasks that required constant attention and manual effort before the advent of Bespoke AI appliances.
Smarter AI home appliances that think ahead and act on their own
Q5. What is the future direction of Samsung’s AI home appliances?
Samsung is evolving bespoke AI experiences so that home appliances not only understand users and their home environment, but also act autonomously based on their own circumstances. The goal is to reduce the time and energy spent on household chores, allowing individuals and families to spend more time doing what really matters.
Looking to the future, Samsung plans to extend its bespoke AI experience beyond the home to other areas such as buildings, vehicles, and even ships, creating a more intelligent and interconnected environment across industries. To realize this vision, Samsung works closely with domestic and global partners across hardware, software and services.
In the next interview in this series, Samsung Newsroom focuses on the second core value of consumer electronics: seamless SmartThings connectivity.
