– New high-capacity, high-performance storage built for the demands of modern AI-enabled surveillance systems –
Taipei, November 4, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Taiwan Toshiba Electronic Components Co., Ltd. (Toshiba) announced the S300 AI, a new generation surveillance hard disk drive (HDD) designed for the requirements of modern artificial intelligence (AI)-driven video applications. Designed specifically for high-definition video capture, analysis, and storage, S300 AI delivers higher capacity, enhanced performance, and enterprise-grade durability to meet the demands of AI surveillance workloads.

Launch of Toshiba S300 AI
Capacities starting from 8TB available[1] Up to 24 TB, the S300 AI supports large-scale continuous recording and retention for AI video analytics servers and storage, centralized monitoring data storage systems, video archive and recovery infrastructure, and multi-bay Redundant Array of Independent Disks (RAID) setups. This combination of scale, speed, and durability makes it an effective solution for storing and processing the vast amounts of video and analytical data generated by AI-enabled surveillance systems.
“The surveillance market is rapidly evolving, and AI analytics is driving new requirements for storage performance, capacity, and reliability,” said Noriaki Katakura, Head of Storage Products Division, Toshiba Electronic Components Taiwan. “With the S300 AI, Toshiba continues to expand and fine-tune its HDD portfolio to meet these demands, delivering higher capacity, enhanced performance, and enterprise-grade durability built specifically for AI workloads.”
Performance optimized for AI workloads
S300 AI is tuned to handle the additional random access introduced by AI workloads, ensuring rapid retrieval of video data for accurate real-time AI analysis and insights.
Highly scalable for modern monitoring
S300 AI supports up to 64 high-resolution camera streams[2] Add up to 32 additional AI streams, making it easy to scale with your evolving AI-driven surveillance requirements. Its high capacity and optimized design make it a suitable choice for continuous recording across a wide range of commercial and infrastructure sectors, including transportation, manufacturing, smart city projects, health and care, finance, and logistics.
Enterprise-grade reliability
Annual workload rating is 550TB[3] Up to 2.5 million hours mean time to failure (MTTF)[4]S300 AI is built to operate 24/7 in mission-critical environments. Additionally, Toshiba backs the hard drive with a 5-year limited warranty, highlighting its durability and suitability for the most demanding surveillance applications.
S300 AI’s 8TB and 10TB capacities will be available starting this month, followed by 14TB, 16TB, 18TB, 20TB, 22TB, and 24TB capacities in the first quarter of 2026.[5].

[1]Capacity Definitions: Toshiba defines a megabyte (MB) as 1 000 000 bytes, a gigabyte (GB) as 1 000 000 000 bytes, and a terabyte (TB) as 1 000 000 000 000 bytes. However, computer operating systems report storage capacity using powers of 2, where 1GB = 2.30 = 1 073 741 824 bytes, so less storage space. Available storage capacity (including examples of various media files) will vary depending on file size, format, settings, software and operating systems (such as Microsoft operating systems and preinstalled software applications), or media content. Actual formatted capacity may vary.
[2]The number of support capabilities of surveillance cameras is defined by performance simulation using high resolution cameras with 10Mbit/s rate. Actual results may vary depending on a variety of factors, including the type of camera installed, system hardware and software capabilities, video compression technology used, and system variables such as resolution, frames per second, and other settings.
[3]Workload is a measure of data over the course of a year and is defined as the amount of data written, read, or validated by commands from host systems.
[4]MTTF/MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) is not a guarantee or estimate of product life. This is a statistic related to the average failure rate of a large number of products and may not accurately reflect actual behavior. Actual product life may differ from MTTF/MTBF.
[5]The specifications of this sample may differ from the mass-produced version.
