According to the report, Tinder is tweaking the verification process by introducing AI and video selfies into photo verification.
Previously, to get verified on Tinder, users had to pose, click a photo, and place a blue checkmark on their profile as instructed. Instead, Tinder requires video selfies, not photos, to verify users.
The introduction of AI in the tech world has made it easy for anyone to fake photos, so Tinder also introduced video selfies for liveness checks.
Additionally, Tinder users can limit chats to photo-verified profiles. The move comes from Tinder for increased security and privacy.
In the new introduction, Tinder first asks users to complete a series of video prompts, which AI uses to match the person in their profile picture. The AI feature works by matching her 3D mapping of a person to a still photo.

Rather than run it in-house, Tinder is considering partnering with third-party managers to verify the video selfie verification process.
After that, Tinder plans to introduce a new feature that will allow users to use their message settings to only show other members verified in their photos in their recommendations.
According to Tinder, the video selfie authentication feature is rolling out globally. The ability to restrict messages to “photo-verified members” will roll out in the coming months.
