On June 20, 2026, the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) launched a sit-in protest at Jantar Mantar over alleged exam fraud. The party ended its protests on July 25, 2026, after Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned and the government assured action on exam reforms (here and here).
In this connection, a video is being shared on social media (here, here and here) showing Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Sumit Jha resigning and claiming that he was pressured by the government to lie about student protesters associated with the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP). Let’s examine the post’s claims in this article.

Claim: The video shows DCP Sumit Jha resigning after being pressured by the government to lie about CJP student protesters.
fact: This viral video has been digitally manipulated by combining real footage of DCP Sumit Jha with AI-generated or fabricated audio. AI audio detection tools such as Hive and DetectVideo AI have shown that the audio may have been generated or manipulated by AI. In the original video, DCP Sumit Jha talks about a misinformation campaign targeting Pakistan-based students, but does not mention resignation or claim that he was pressured by the government to lie about CJP student protesters. Delhi Police has also officially confirmed that the viral video is fake and generated by artificial intelligence. Therefore, the claim in the post is that error.
To verify this claim, we conducted a Google keyword search and found no credible media reports or official statements indicating that DCP Sumit Jha resigned after being pressured by the government to lie about CJP student protesters.
We then performed a reverse image search for the keyframes of the viral video and arrived at the original video shared by the Delhi Police X account (@DelhiPolice) on July 23, 2026. In the original video, DCP Sumit Jha spoke about an alleged foreign disinformation campaign targeting students. He said more than 400 Pakistan-based social media handles involved in a coordinated disinformation campaign have been identified and blocked by law enforcement agencies. He also pointed out that many of these accounts were the same as those active during Operation Sindoor and urged the public, especially students and youth, to check before sharing information online.
Nowhere in the original video does DCP Sumit Jha mention his resignation or claim that he was pressured by the government to lie about student protesters associated with the CJP. This confirms that the viral video was digitally manipulated.
We then used multiple AI audio detection tools, including Hive and DetectVideo AI, to analyze the viral video. Analysis showed that the audio was likely generated or manipulated by AI. This confirms that the viral video has been digitally altered, combining original footage and fabricated audio to falsely portray DCP Sumit Jha making statements that he never made.

We also found an X post by Delhi Police (@DelhiPolice) published on July 26, 2026 debunking this viral video. In the post, Delhi Police clarified that the viral video claiming that DCP Sumit Jha resigned over the student movement is fake and has been generated by AI. Additionally, the authentic footage shows officers addressing the public about an active misinformation campaign, urging people not to share the edited clip and describing it as part of an orchestrated misinformation campaign.
We also found multiple media reports (here and here) covering the same information that DCP Summit Jha presented in the original video. These reports say that Delhi Police has identified and blocked over 400 Pakistan-based social media handles involved in a coordinated misinformation campaign targeting students, corroborating statements made by police officers in authentic videos.

To summarize, this video of DCP Sumit Jha resigning after allegedly being pressured by the government to lie about CJP student protesters was manipulated by AI.
