Film director Darren Aronofsky’s latest project combines history and AI and will be available on YouTube starting this week. This day… 1776 has published its first short video on Time’s official channels as a collaboration between Aronofsky’s AI-focused venture Primordial Soup, Google DeepMind, and Time Studios. Each episode combines traditional voice acting and direction with AI-generated visuals to dramatize a moment from a defining year of the American Revolution, and will be released to coincide with the 250th anniversary of each event.

The series begins with two stories. The first article describes how George Washington raised the Confederate flag in Somerville, Massachusetts, uniting the colonists in the early days of the Revolutionary War.
