Things to know about Delta using AI to adjust ticket prices in real time

Applications of AI

David Shepherdson:

So now the answer is no. So, last week, American Airlines CEO Robert Eisen was very strong saying he didn't mention Delta in particular, but the idea for AI is bait and switching, and Americans would never do that. This will cause consumers to lose trust.

But the reality is that it is certainly possible. Airlines are constantly trying to find ways to earn more from consumers by requesting seat payments, upgrading, or pitching more perks. And that's a real question, right?

Can airlines use your will for some of these, perhaps beyond the price of a base ticket? Can they use AI or can they do that? And such kinds return to this idea of how much regulation, how many guardrails there are.

But I think that only this idea sparked a fire of concern. And I think it would give the industry some terror before. Do we want to go down that path, you know, you know, you know, you know, you really get the same ticket and we showed different prices. Is it hard to know what to pay for the average consumer who is not a travel nerd? As you know, what is the right price? How much will it change the next day and tomorrow?
