Accessibility-focused technology provider Envision has partnered with Eyewear Company Solos to launch a new smart glass specifically designed for blind and low vision users. Envision says that Allysolos Glasses, equipped with a camera, can read text, translate, explain the surroundings, search the web, recognize people, objects, and signs, and provide information to users via open-ear speakers built into the ear stems.
Ally Solos Glasses can be pre-ordered for $399 today. This is a “special launch price” discounted from $699, Envision says. The frame comes in two sizes, either regular or large, and options in black, gray and brown. Pre-order delivery is scheduled for some time in October 2025.
Built on the existing Airgo Vision Glasses that Solo launched in December, it offers its own visual recognition capabilities through Openai's GPT-4O AI model. The Envision version replaces GPT-4o with Envision's “Ally” AI Assistant. It comes with a combination of basic AI models such as Meta's Llama, Openai's ChatGpt, Google's Gemini and Prperxity, according to the Ally website.
AI features work by connecting to Ally iOS or Android apps via Bluetooth. The glasses themselves have a powerful IP67 rating to protect against dust and water, following the pre-order list, and USB-C rechargeable ear stems that provide “up to 16 hours of active use” on a single charge. It takes about 90 minutes to fully charge the ear stems, and a 15-minute fast charging will give you a battery life of around 3 hours.
