The US National AI Action Plan recommends the Interagency AI Leadership Council

As a recent part It has been announced National AI Action Plan, the US government proposed formalizing the Supreme Council of Artificial Intelligence Officers (CAIOC) as a central hub for interagency coordination on AI policies and adoption.

This recommendation is intended to improve strategic alignment between federal sectors and ensure the consistent and efficient deployment of AI technology in government operations.

CAIOC will be formalized and will work closely with major executive councils, including the Presidential Trustees, the Chief Information Officer Council, the Chief Information Officer Council, the Chief Information Officer Council, the Federal Privacy Council, and the Interagency Council on Statistical Policy.

The move is to accelerate innovation through streamlined governance and stronger agency partnerships, one of the core pillars of the AI action plan. By increasing coordination, the plan seeks to eliminate redundancy, promote AI-driven efficiency, and promote the safe and ethical adoption of emerging technologies across federal systems.

Nevertheless, the current situation of the Supreme Council of Artificial Intelligence Officers (CAIOC) is unknown. It was created under an executive order that was now cancelled in 2024, but the council has not reunited or made public. Nevertheless, the new National AI Action Plan, although there is no official word from OMB yet, is allocating it in coordinating AI adoption across federal agencies.
