The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has rolled out a large-scale national initiative under the mission of IndiaAI, a free basic artificial intelligence (AI) course aimed at equipping India’s youth and citizens of all age groups with essential AI skills.
The newly launched “Yuva AI for All” program is a 4.5-hour self-paced course designed to simplify artificial intelligence for beginners. The government wants to explain the basic concepts of AI in an easy-to-understand manner to students, professionals, and first-time learners using relevant examples and practical demonstrations from India.

This course is free and available on FutureSkills Prime, iGOT Karmayogi, and other selected edtech platforms. Upon completion, learners will receive an official Indian government certification that enhances their digital skills profile.

Why initiatives matter
The program is designed to be free and available to everyone and is structured to allow for flexible learning. This supports India’s mission to build an AI-enabled population and drive ethical and inclusive AI adoption across the country.
Through this initiative, MeitY aims to train one billion Indians in basic AI skills, bridge the digital divide and future-proof the country’s workforce. To further expand the reach of the program, schools, universities and organizations were invited to partner with IndiaAI.
