The next time you go to Yelp on your mobile phone and check out the latest restaurant reviews, you may be greeted with an AI-generated video. Yelp deploys artificial intelligence videos to feed iOS apps to Yelp's homepage.
AI Video uses a large-scale language model to grab text from a review of establishment and turn it into Ai Voice narration (11 courtesy) and captions (course courtesy of Amazon Transcribe). Yelp then uses photos uploaded from user reviews to create a slideshow-like display of what you eat, drink, and dance.
Neither reviewers nor companies seem to have spoken out when it comes to surveillance of these AI videos. Companies cannot view AI videos before they are generated, cannot provide input, and users cannot refuse to use reviews or photos. This raises many privacy questions.
AI video viewers have the option to report the video as inaccurate or aggressive content. Yelp says it will conduct a wide range of audits of the videos. This will be updated regularly for the facility as more reviews and photos come in.
