Ranking this franchise is like ranking your favorite flavors of energy drinks. They are all kinds of wild, sometimes suspicious, but oddly addictive. Some films have been made more. Others are more fun. And some? Well, it feels like they've run out of gas mid-race.

This feels more like a narrative patch job than a full story, so we land at the final location. It tries to fix the continuity issue from the previous film, but ends up creating a filler episode with little return.
Just reunite the cast is not guaranteed chemistry or excitement. The story structure is important. Interests are important. Also, if you're rebooting the middle of the franchise, make sure the reboot actually adds something fresh.

There are submarine chases, some ice-painted Lambos, and villains who control everything from cars to nuclear codes.
Certainly, the action is big and Theron is doing her best. But this doesn't have the emotional spine that was created The fierce 7 work. Dom, who opposes his family, may have had that twist on the film.
Directors considering scaling up should pay attention: escalation will not land without emotional anchors.
9. Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw (2019)

Along the way there are viruses that could destroy humanity, several high-octane brawls in exotic locations, and a detour to Samoa where Hobbs reunited with his roots. Ryan Reynolds and Kevin Hart jump into the cameo… why not?
This movie is fun. Buddy Cop Banter works especially if you're a fan of Johnson and Statham's dealing insults. But it doesn't feel like most fast film.
If there's a takeaway here, it's all about that tone. You can raise the action and bring in a superhero, but if you lose the DNA of the original franchise, it risks becoming a completely different beast. Know your lane.
8. 2 Fast 2 Furious (2003)

This sequel is absolutely immersed in the aesthetics of the early 2000s. Roman's wise crack brings lightness, Brian's character evolves, the atmosphere is pure and the fun of the uncut DVD era. Certainly there is no DOM, but it establishes a franchise's willingness to shift tone and place.
Directors and writers can learn a lot about chemistry from now on. John Singleton took a simple plot and enjoyed it.

Justin Lynn balances character moments and chaos, making sure each team member gets a moment. When the stakes are clear and personal, even the wildest set pieces can bump into the house.

One smart move F9 Make-up accepts absurdity rather than fighting it. For creators, this is a case study in managing extreme sounds. If your story is ridiculous, acknowledge it in the world.
4. Fasting and the Far: Tokyo Drift (2006)
