Free to play games First descendants It is being criticized because it appears to be using deepfark without the knowledge or consent of at least one real streamer in Tiktok ads. Developers now claim that this is the result of “specific irregularities” seen in user-generated content calls.
release Maplestory Last year's developer, Nexon First descendants It's a third-person booty shooter game in which players fight alien invaders. Like many other online multiplayer games Fortnite and League of Legends, First descendants There will be a “season” and a period that lasts for several months when new content is added to the game. Season 3: Breakthrough begins in August, with Nexon reportedly posting the video First descendantsOfficial Tiktok account to promote the event.
Five new video games on Steam now use AI generated, according to the report
However, players quickly realized something about these ads. Although Tiktok videos appeared to promote streamer clips First descendants,Several factors showed that they were actually generated using AI. The red flags included the artificially sounding voices of ostensibly streamers, their illegitimate scripts, and strange mouths and head movements. Viewers may not immediately feature these Tells while casually scrolling through their Tiktok feeds, but it becomes clear as soon as they pay more attention to the clips.
Reddit user U/Ihardlytrihard put together some ads in a post on R/TheFirstDescendant Subreddit, claiming that within 15 minutes their Tiktok showed four videos.
“It's really a tooth kick TFD Written by u/ihardlytrihard, who claimed that content creators are content creators because they use AI for such ads, rather than actual content creators.
What's even worse is at least one First descendantsThe Tiktoc ads appeared to use the portrait of an actual content creator without his consent. In the first clip of the u/ihardlytrihard compilation, you can see the obvious Deep Fark of horror game streamer Daniel Shemon talking about his performance First descendants Advertise the game. However, Danielthedemon has since said it has nothing to do with games or advertising.
“I have no affiliation or contracts First descendants“Danielthedemon commented on the issue under Game Central's Tiktok video. I disagree that my likeness will be used…”
Masculine light speed
With 8.3 million views, Daniel Sedemon's most popular Tiktok video shows streamers playing indie horror games guest. First descendants'AD appears to have filmed a video of Danielthedemon, turned it over and used AI to change mouth movements and words. “The embarrassing thing to be honest, I really believe that ads actually hurt the game because anyone who's half interested in checking them sees these and thinks it's not a damn opportunity.”
“I don't know how to recommend this game to others at this point, and without completely ruining my own reliability in the process,” commented U/Detpowell.
First descendants Developers respond to AI advertising controversy
On Monday, Nexon issued a statement dealing with the fuss. Although it didn't address any particular situation directly in Danielthedemon, the developer explained that the controversial ads themselves weren't created. Rather, the videos were created and submitted to them by third parties.
“As part of a marketing campaign [The First Descendant] Season 3: Breakthrough, we recently ran a Creative Challenge program for Tiktok Creators. This allows creators to voluntarily submit content that will be used as advertising material. “Nexon wrote in the announcement.
“However, we recognize cases where the circumstances surrounding the production of certain submitted videos appear to be inappropriate, and therefore we are conducting a thorough joint investigation with Tiktok to determine the facts.”
Tiktok's Creative Challenge program allows brands to issue callouts for user-created ads. Users who are approved by Tiktok to be part of this program can create videos according to brand guidelines and earn a commission on content if ads are used. Unfortunately, Tiktok's review process may need to be reworked.
Still, not all responsibility rests at Tiktok's feet. Judging from Nexon's statement, it appears that the developers have either completely abandoned reviewing Tiktok or simply could not catch content generated by AI through their own checks. Neither option is a good foreshadowing. Take that into consideration in particular First descendants While ADS's AI usage seems pretty obvious, the increased scrutiny in Nexon's advertising approval process is not uncommon.
Nexon says reviewing the situation takes longer than expected and more updates will be provided in the future. In any case, developers will be more careful about crowdsourced ad approvals in the future.
