
Companies collaborate on AI innovation labs to enable deeper connections with consumers, reduce time to market, and further strengthen regional relevance
NEW YORK and REDMOND, WA — April 26, 2024 — The Estée Lauder Companies (ELC) and Microsoft Corporation on Friday announced the creation of an AI Innovation Lab, an expansion of their global strategic relationship. The two companies will collaborate to develop solutions that leverage the cutting-edge generative AI capabilities of Microsoft's Azure OpenAI service to further enhance ELC's 20+ luxury beauty brands, forging deeper connections with consumers and Increase local relevance and reduce time to market. The AI Innovation Lab further positions both companies as leaders at the forefront of reimagining the beauty industry with generative AI.
This expansion of our global strategic relationship further supports and builds on impactful generative AI use cases across several areas of ELC's business.
- Respond and execute faster to social trends and consumer demands: ELC and Microsoft successfully created an in-house generative AI chatbot to increase marketing effectiveness globally. The tool leverages advanced conversational AI technology to efficiently navigate and further leverage ELC's extensive database of proprietary product and billing data, helping brands launch locally relevant campaigns faster. The AI Innovation Lab represents a deepening of the strategic relationship between ELC and Microsoft that began in 2017. As part of this long-term relationship, ELC has selected Azure AI as the platform for its voice-enabled makeup assistant. This kind of mobile app was launched in early 2023 to help visually impaired users apply makeup more easily and confidently. The app is available on iOS and Android in the US, UK, and Ireland, and will be rolled out to other markets and languages in the coming months.
