Artificial Intelligence (AI)-generated videos are becoming dangerously realistic, so they can deceive you. An elderly Malaysian couple dreamed of riding a scenic cable car and were rudely shocked when they traveled to their destination. They saw it on the video and were excited by the idea. They took on a three-hour ride from Kuala Lumpur to visit the resort in Pera, shown in the video. Upon reaching the hotel they asked about the cable car. To my surprise, the staff informed that there was no such attraction in the town. The female staff member shared the story of an older couple on social media last month.
AI host interviewed people with fake videos
Staff shared that when they asked her about the cable car, she thought they were making a joke. They refused to believe her when she told them about the existence of such charm in the area. The couple told her that it was impossible because they saw the place on the video. In the video, she interviewed others on the site and asked them about their experiences. The staff told them it was an AI-generated video. “Why did they make this into people?” asked the shocked woman. The video in question has since been deleted. It showed a host of women enjoying the Quac Skalid, a fun streetcar ride in the town of Quac Furu, Pera. The channel name “TV Rakyat” will also be displayed. The woman can be seen riding a cable car, walking through the forest and enjoying the beautiful mountains. She tells the others in the video about the Kuak attraction. The host also enjoys a meal at a restaurant in the same location. The woman wanted to sues the AI host
After learning the truth, the elderly woman got mad and vowed to sue the woman on the video. Hotel staff explained to her that even the female hosts in the video weren't real. The couple remained totally confused and discouraged after falling prey to a scam. A similar case was revealed after the incident became clear. The man told a Malaysian news outlet that his parents also watched the video generated by the AI and spent RM9,000 (US$2,120) on renting a van.
The incident leaves people on social media shocked at their core. They raised concerns about the need to control it before it's too late, as the chaos was already the cause. Users expressed shock that the old man had to endure and spent all that money on visiting a charm that does not exist. Another pointed out that even young people could be victims of such videos, especially since she hadn't realised she was an AI until she read the comments.
