Telangana government school principal leads AI-powered social media campaign to boost student enrolment

In an innovative campaign to increase enrolment at Zilla Parishad High School, Vattemula, Rajanna Sircilla district, Telangana, the school's principal, K. Suryanarayana, is spearheading an AI-powered social media campaign to increase enrolment at the government school in the new academic year.

The novel idea came to him when his daughter, a third-year Bachelor of Technology student at IIITDM-Kancheepuram, Tamil Naidu, explained to him about the various applications of AI during a recent summer vacation visit to her hometown.

He claimed to have put the idea into action and created a 'virtual AI anchor' – a computerised avatar – to highlight the benefits of studying at the ZPHS in Vattemula, near the famous temple town of Vemulawada.

“The 'AI anchor' will read out texts in Telugu and highlight the salient features of ZPHS like instruction in English, highly qualified teachers, mid-day meals, free textbooks, two sets of school uniforms and digital lessons through T-Sat channels,” Suryanarayana said.

The AI-powered campaign aims to spread awareness about the benefits of studying in a government school with highly qualified and experienced teachers. ZPHS, Vattemula, recorded 100% results in the SSC examinations last year.
