Teddy Swims has admitted to incorporating artificial intelligence tools into his music production process.
The singer spoke about AI at SXSW Sydney, saying it’s a “really cool” and “very useful” technology that he already uses when writing music. As a specific example, Swims explained that a producer in Los Angeles was able to use AI to change one of the lyrics.
“Rather than I go, [to] “He went into the studio and did the lines 15 times and spent all that time and money and effort so he could actually go in and change the words,” Swims said.

Swims also admitted that he utilizes AI song prompts to reimagine different songs from different genres. “What we might do is write the melody and lyrics with an acoustic, finish the song, upload it, and say, ‘Okay, I want to hear this as a country song,’ or ‘I want to hear this as a rock’n’ roll song,'” he admitted.
“Instead of spending time, sometimes months, recreating something over and over again in different ways, you get an idea of something fully fleshed out in this lane,” Swims continued. “I think it’s a great tool if used correctly.”
AI-involved or not, Swims has been on a roll lately. His hit song “Lose Control” was recently certified Diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America after selling over 10 million copies in the United States alone.
