AI Video & Visuals

Spideo announced the launch of AI Highlights within Spideo Play, its automated sports production platform. AI Highlights combines video, event data, audio description, and contextual understanding to automatically generate highlight clips and story-driven content. It was developed using Amazon Bedrock Foundation Models and AWS Step Functions in collaboration with the AWS Generative AI Innovation Center. AI Highlights will be available starting May 5, 2026, and will initially support soccer, ice hockey, basketball, and handball.

“With AI Highlights, we are moving to true storytelling at scale. Every game has multiple stories: the context of what happened, who defined it, and why it matters,” he says. Patrick Olson, Spiideo Co-Founder and CEO. “Until now, creating these stories required a lot of manual effort. AI Highlights changes that by automatically turning every game into multiple publish-ready clips and stories for different audiences and platforms. In collaboration with the AWS Generative AI Innovation Center, we We’re excited to combine both our capabilities and our deep sports video expertise to build something that’s not only powerful, but practical and scalable for leagues, broadcasters, and rights holders around the world.”

AI Highlights automatically generates multiple content formats from a single game, including game recaps, home team stories, away team stories, MVP stories, and halftime highlights. The system leverages player identities, season trends, game status, scorelines, and commentary to inform content generation.

Key features include story-first highlight generation across multiple formats, automated live workflows for creating publishable clips, editorial review and adjustment tools, and multi-format output for broadcast and social distribution. AI Highlights is integrated as an add-on to your existing Spideo Play pipeline.
