In case no one has said it yet, welcome to hell. So take off your hat and enjoy AI Astro Bot’s podcast about why the ghost of Yotei sticks dual swords in his mouth. Or something like that – publisher Sony has just patented an idea for bespoke AI-generated podcasts.
These will be “LLM-based generative podcasts for gamers,” as indicated by the concept’s title on the World Intellectual Property Organization Database (discovered by VGC). These offer what Sony vaguely calls “unique, personalized podcasts of news that specific gamers might be interested in,” and while the patent for the concept was published at the end of January, Sony has apparently had this revelation for a while. The patent application dates back to 2024.
So imagine Horizon Zero Dawn’s Aloy putting down the spear for a second and giving you some valuable advice like, “Also, try the spin move on the boss next time!” as Sony writes as an example. You may need to give her “data associated with video game player profiles” – your Profile – But don’t worry about things like privacy and security. Sony seems to be suggesting that by purchasing console hardware, it’s okay to part with it.
