Social media users were asked to avoid deep-fark videos generated by AI featuring CAs
Dhaka, June 16, 2025 (BSS) – Chief advisor news agency urges social media users to be more cautious and avoids being deceived by AI-generated deepfake videos showing Professor Muhammad Yunus by gamblers.
“While gambling ads targeting Bangladeshi users on social media are not new, we are delving into the huge popularity of Professor Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Advisor of the Government Royal Family in Bangladeshi, creating AI-generated deepfake videos to steer mimic and fake news reports to attract current news reports and fake statements.
This statement was posted on Press Wing's verified Facebook page – CA Press Wing Fact.
A recent example includes a Deepfake video distributed on Facebook, incorrectly indicating that Professor Yunus has approved the gambling app.
“In this manipulated footage, it appears that Dr. Yunus invites people to gamble for financial gain.
“Facebook user JWFRH Hibbert shared the video, where you can see Dr Yunus saying that the government has launched an app that promises a significant return on users' investment,” the statement read.
In the video, Professor Yunus said, “We tested the product in a small group of volunteers. Each got over 555,000 BDT in the first week. If you haven't made at least 37,000 bdt in the first week, you're ready to return the money from your pocket.
However, investigations revealed that the video was being manipulated. The reverse image search shows that the programme was filmed from Al Jazeera's speech with Al Jazeera, and recorded at Doha headquarters, according to the press.
In the actual interview, Professor Yunus said nothing about betting or government launch investment apps. The misleading video also featured the BDNews24.com logo that says the outlet will not release such videos.
When I checked the Facebook account I posted, the investigator was created on June 14, 2022 and appeared to be run by multiple users based in Lithuania.
There are only four posts in the account, all promoting a gambling app called Blue Live.
“The video is completely fake and is generated by AI. The voice is a robot and does not match Dr. Yunus's true voice,” the statement said.
This is not an isolated case. Since the formation of the interim government in August 2024, numerous deepfake videos featuring Professor Yunus have emerged across the Meta platform.
In some people, he has incorrectly shown promoting gaming apps as a solution to poverty and unemployment in Bangladesh. Some say the initiative was taken to help students move and to help flood victims.
“In another deepfake, Dr. Yunus appears to be promoting a betting site called Crazy Time Bangladesh, which is also manufactured.
“The manipulated video featuring Crazy Time Bangladesh is misused by Dr. Yunus as a spokesman. In fact, the video was created using digital editing tools,” the statement said.

A detailed investigation reveals a scene of fake gambling AD-DR. Yunus clothing, background, and nearby individuals match those found in the original News24 video.
“We urge social media users to be more cautious and avoid being deceived by such deepfake videos,” the statement read.
